Optimal emotions for learning & Managing emotions in workshops

Optimal Emotions for Learning: Create More Impactful Learning Experiences - online course in 3 modules

Bring your training events from good to great by learning how to guide learner’s emotions better.

If you are a trainer, I believe one of your goals is to create genuine, tangible changes in the lives of others.

I imagine the growth of your participants is one of your main motivators, and that “aha” moments are your favorite points in every workshop.

But even with a fantastic design, quality content, and dedicated preparation – deep insights and transformation sometimes simply don’t happen.

Can you guess which secret ingredient is missing?

Most often, it is because the workshop was missing the powerful emotional journey to support the learning event.

The real transformation – the long term one – requires emotion.

Unfortunately, in most of our education (including train-the-trainer events), we don’t truly develop the skill of managing the emotions of the group we facilitate.

That is what makes the course “Optimal Emotions for Learning: Create More Impactful Learning Experiences workshop” the key learning event to strengthen your impact as a trainer and to facilitate tangible changes through your workshops.

Why is emotion crucial for learning?

Most memorable moments in our life are always connected to emotions – positive or negative. And same goes for learning.

Emotion is what makes learning stick.

Emotions are key to attention, memory, and learner’s motivation, and are a crucial ingredient of an impactful learning process.

Content and methods are what make the backbone of every workshop – but emotions and energy are the ingredients that make the workshop truly extraordinary and memorable.

They shape what participants actually learn, how well they remember it, and how much they will use it after the workshop.

Emotions turn our experiences into lasting impressions and help to transfer new behaviors and skills from the workshop into life.

We all know that – but how much is of focus when designing our workshops on the emotional journey?

How can we implement it better, deeper, and more effectively?

In a learning environment, useful emotion most usually doesn’t happen by chance – but by the intentional design of the emotional journey.

What is this course about?

Optimal Emotions for Learning: Create More Impactful Learning Experiences workshops” is an online course divided into 3 modules, in which you will learn about the impact of different emotions on learning.

You will discover ways of creating emotional experiences in your workshops to make them more memorable and learn to build an engaging, impactful learning journey for your participants.

The course is designed for trainers and facilitators, as well as anyone organizing and delivering workshops and educational events.

It brings together theories about emotions in learning based on the science of learning and neuroscience with meaningful and insightful discussions among experienced trainers. The focus will be on how to turn the theory into practical tools and approaches to use in your own workshops.

On the course you can work on your existing workshop design to implement the tools and ideas straight away, but as you will also learn through case studies and other participants’ examples, there is no requirement to arrive with a workshop design of your own.

You will gain new perspectives and ideas on how to think about the role of emotions in training, as well as practical tools to create an impact.

It will encourage you as a trainer to focus on emotion, not just as a means to design a “learning experience that feels good, and that learners enjoy” – but to truly leverage the learners’ emotions to make learning more impactful and memorable!

The course will also provide you with powerful questions for reflection to make your approach to emotions in learning personalized for your own style as a trainer.

Learning goals

The course was built as a consequence of mentoring and training many new trainers – and noticing what a big impact on their workshop have emotions and atmosphere that they create in their sessions. Emotions showed to be the crucial ingredient that changed everything – so I kept digging more and more into what the research says about emotions in learning. I condensed my learnings and insights into practical, action-oriented tips that make the foundation of the Managing emotions in learning course.

Science shows that there is a specific set and flow of emotions optimal for learning – let’s explore it together, in an active and practical way.

Who is the course for?

The course is designed for trainers who are skilled in facilitation and designing and delivering workshops – but would like to bring their workshop to the next level.

Designing the flow of energy and balancing it with right and purposeful emotion is a key differentiator between good and great delivery.

Would you like to develop new, more impactful ways of designing that emotional journey and keeping the learners’ energy and motivation high while facilitating or delivering a workshop?

About the trainer

Mirna Šmidt, the founder of Trainers Toolbox and Happiness Academy, brings together 14 years of experience in training and 8 years of experience in coaching with the practical experience of a successful career in a global team in a fast-paced corporate environment. She also adds deep theoretical knowledge to the mix – among other things, including MsC of Applied Positive Psychology from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.

Her style of training is positive, energetic, engaging, fast-paced and focused on goals and impact that we can create as trainers – and sometimes a tiny bit overwhelming in the abundance of information as a consequence of her deep love of learning.

Mirna’s mission is to support trainers in making training more impactful – among other ways, by leveraging science-based practices.

What other trainers say about emotions in learning?

“If you want to take your game to the next level as a trainer, facilitator, or just run more effective meetings at work, this workshop is a must-attend. It provides a ton of clarity and self-awareness regarding your energy and emotions, so you can better understand how you’re influencing others in these situations. Love it or hate it, emotions drive us all, and certain conditions make learning and information stick better. So, if you want to upskill yourself, don’t ignore the power of emotions and energy.”

Ana Maria Radu, Learning and People development at UniCredit Services, Romania

“This training is perfect to be added to every trainer’s tools list, regardless the experience of the trainer (which is a big big plus, from my perspective). It is that kind of training where you can find a mix between info and reflections, that each trainer/facilitator can use further. Also, a big big plus for the way it was conducted: a real good combination of safe space created by Mirna, flexibility and knowledge.”

Ramona Popescu Grigoras, Soft Skills Trainer, Romania

“Mirna always suceeds in engageing us learners with her energy and enthousiam, well prepared training and deep insight (both theory and practice) into each topic she covers. With this size of group (6 participants) ideal balance between theory, exercise and exchange of ideas was achieved. Thank you!”

Dinka Krcelic, Business Trainer and Executive Coach, Croatia

“This course helped me understand how to make a training truly remarkable and provided me with new tools to take my workshops to a higher more powerful level.”

Anna Danes, founder at ricaris.com, Spain
