Seven Dimensions of Facilitation to Balance in Your Workshop

🎙 Episode Description:

Great facilitation is more than just guiding a process — it’s about constantly balancing between competing needs. In this episode of the Trainers Toolbox podcast, I’ll introduce you to one of my favorite frameworks: the 7 Dimensions of Facilitation. It’s a simple, practical, and powerful tool that will help you uncover blind spots and become a more adaptive facilitator.

What we explore:

✅ What the 7 dimensions are

✅ How to recognize your natural facilitation tendencies

✅ Practical ways to shift and balance more intentionally

✅ Reflection questions to deepen your facilitation practice

💡An example of the 7 dimensions is ‘Pace’ – and whether your pace is too slow or too fast, you might end up losing the attention of your participants.

Each of the 7 dimensions represents a scale between two opposing facilitation approaches. The goal isn’t to stay perfectly in the middle — it’s to become fluid in moving along each scale depending on the moment. The right direction depends on your process goals, the stage you’re in, the time available, and the energy of your group.

Whether you’re a seasoned facilitator or just starting out, this episode offers insights that will help you design more engaging, balanced, and effective workshops.
