About the workshop series

“Positive psychology toolbox for trainers and coaches” is a series of workshops built specifically for trainers and coaches to provide them with diverse, fresh, practical, impactful and engaging tools based on the science of positive psychology and neuroscience.

Positive psychology is the science of happiness, but it also looks into mindfulness, resilience, meaning, social connections and what makes them flourish, flow and enjoyment, positive emotions, strengths, mindset and love.

Built on principles of experiential learning and evidence-based training methods, the workshops will consist of sharing the positive psychology tools and exercises, trying them out, discussing all possible applications of these exercises in training and coaching, open many questions for reflection and many action points.

Participants will leave the session ready to use several great practical tools and with many new ideas on what to explore next and where to find an abundance of new materials.

Learning Goals for the participants are:

  • To learn why and how to use positive psychology tools and theories in training
  • To get to know numerous positive psychology tools that can be used in training and coaching, and discuss and brainstorm possibilities on how to implement these in a session in the best way
  • To try out and test many of the tools through their own experience
  • To share ideas with the group and get empowered to use new tools.

Outline of the 9 modules

Intro webinars

Th free intro webinar in October will include a short 1h intro to the topic of positive psychology and what it can offer to trainers and coaches. While they will provide some valuable tools and methods, focus will be in sharing more about the program and topics covered in other modules.

Module 1: Wellbeing and happiness

The first module will focus on positive psychology tools for trainers and coaches related to clients and participants’ wellbeing and happiness.
We will explore various models, frameworks, surveys and dashboards to measure happiness, life satisfaction and wellbeing, and diverse aspects of wellbeing.
While these topics are the core of positive psychology – the science of happiness and “life worth living” – they are also one of the most common initial points in a coaching conversation.

Module 2: Mindfulness for quality of life, focus and against stress

Our second module is focused on the value of mindfulness. We will cover this topic from both theoretical and practical aspects. You will learn useful tools and mindfulness practices including meditation, breathing exercises, best apps, gadgets and programs to become more grounded, focused, while strengthening emotional awareness and dealing with acceptance of negative or savoring the positive emotions. We will touch on what are the most effective types of mindfulness meditation, when to use each, how do they compare, and how we can personalise them for our clients – including the most scientifically sound programs and directions of meditation.

Module 3: Resilience to challenges, mental toughness and coping mechanisms

In this module, we will explore resilience and mental toughness broadly (through great models) and deeply (through deep and powerful techniques of working with own thinking patterns), understanding all of the aspects related to mindfulness and how to strengthen each. Tools will include surveys and scales, practical exercises and short, impactful tools for working with own resilience and dealing with circumstances that we can or cannot control.

Module 4: Flow and engagement

Module 4 is dedicated to flow, a state of full engagement and focus, rich with feeling of purpose and closely related to high performance and wellbeing.
We will explore tools for building flow for teams and individuals; characteristics and individual styles of flow, how to balance challenge and support for optimal performance, and connection between different mental states – such as mindfulness or playfulness – and how to use each of those states to strengthen flow.

Module 5: Building more meaning and motivation

Fifth module will introduce you to powerful exercises to uncover meaning in life on different levels, from everyday activities to ‘the big picture’ of life. You will learn tools and frameworks for working with life purpose, but also for creating more meaning in everyday life.
We will also learn about compassion based motivation (as opposed to inner critic), importance of positive focus, and working with inspiration to boost both positive action and positive emotion, as well as importance of attitude and strengthening self-confidence through awareness of progress and personal strengths.

Module 6: Discover and leverage personal strengths (individual or in a team)

In module six will learn how to lead participants or client to explore and leverage their own personal strengths, including discussing 4 best science-based strengths surveys, when to use them, and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. We will explore a great framework to work with strengths overuse and underuse. Combining powerful metaphors with scientific data about usage of strengths, we will share exercises for reflection on strengths, how to get feedback from others on own strengths, exercises to support individual to focus more on using own strengths, and increasing the client’s awareness of activities that rely on personal strengths or weaknesses.

Module 7: Mindset and working with own thinking patterns

Module 7 is focused on working with mindset and thinking patterns.
We will learn tools to work with own thoughts in how we assign meaning to events in our life, making own thoughts more positive and impactful (meditation, journaling and other). We will discover how to work with self-narrative, unveil the effects of language on thinking, emotion and physiology – and how to leverage it in motivation and to use thoughts to positively impact our emotions and behaviors. We will also a broad set of powerful tools to practice more gratitude and strengthen optimism, the key elements of happiness and satisfaction in life.

Module 8: Positive emotions and relationship with self (self-compassion)

In module eight we will explore the science of positive emotions – what is their importance and how to enrich life with more positive emotions. We will also focus on relationship with self – learning about self-compassion, self-talk and ways to work on befriending yourself. We will explore meditation, reflection and journaling exercises, scales to measure self-compassion, and diverse practices to create self-compassionate moments, including reframing critical self-talk and understanding the inner critic.

Module 9: Positive relationships – building and maintaining them

In module nine we will explore a range of exercises and tools for being more intentional and develop more clarity and awareness of quality and satisfaction in our relationships. We will focus on creating strong connections and strengthening existing relationships through science-based tools and exercises.

We will also use this module to put together all previous tools and frameworks. You will get the chance to reflect on your learning and choose which of the tools to focus on.

All modules include a booklist of the recommended reading and a follow-up handout with an outline of the main tools mentioned.
